Soaking in September’s Sundays

This is how Sundays always start for us.

My favourite shot among the many we took from the NMS last Sunday.

My September’s Indulgence: Melted Marshmallow Delights

Sempang, Sembawang?

Drink too much Coke, and you become a Birdie.

Free movie screen at NMS. Must watch. Sappy malay duets being sung, and then suddenly got war.

Kesavan. Seems he was hot-stuffs back then with his Mamak mustache.

Seems they had funky red laptops many eons ago.

Do you find him shaking his head in disgust (too), everytime you say that word?

There’s a point in life when you get tired of chasing people and trying to fix everything, but it’s not giving up. It’s realizing that you don’t need certain people and their  crap.

An answered prayer for USB addicts

Fix one anywhere you wish to have cables temporarily held yet easily removeable or extended. I hate how my cables often drop everytime I unplug my laptop to shift location. CableDrop gently grasps your power and peripheral cords so they do not fall off your desk every time you unplug your laptop.

Best of all, they serve like a million other purposes! I can’t wait to get my hands on one~

I feel sorry for short men, I really do!

And by that, I don’t mean those standing about 1.65m, etc.. I refer to those teetering close towards the midgets’ margin. Least when your a girl, you’re called a walking-you-know-what. As for the men…

They’ve got to resort to wearing tee’s like this. Ouch!!

Why’d you have to go and leave me?

After all these years, I can’t believe we’re parting ways.

  • Was it that I never gave enough attention?
  • Was it the moment I de-ranked you in my ladder of importance?
  • Was it when I said you lived too far away?
  • Was it because I never visited your new apartment?

Either ways, I’m going outta my mind, that you would go and leave me.

Move over sundial, hello Bamboo Soil Clock!

This awesome Bamboo Soil Clock powered by — dirt!

Created by Dutch designer Marieke Staps, this ingenious clock works with copper and zinc electrodes that plug straight into soil. The soil functions as a conductive medium through which an electrical charge can flow — providing a natural energy source.

It is also handmade in the Netherlands out of bamboo, an inherently sustainable material.

Memories: Sydney + Brisbane

I reckon I did a fair amount of travelling in my late teens/early 20s. Tonight while clearing some old documents, I came across this photograph. I guess we could have taken it out to show someone. Gotta source out the album.

Such sweet memories of Australia. Our house, the frequent trips, the winter, Surfer’s Paradise, Sydney Harbour, Movie World, Sea World, was it Dreamworld for the other world? Oh the memories are endless! I recall the bus stops, and the street-walkers, to the beggar-grandpa at the Blue Mountains. Boy was he cool! Heh..

The picture above was their Skyway cable car. It went across the valley, and the base was made of metal wires. I think I was about 16 when I took my first ride on it.

No world-famous rollercoaster ride at Dreamworld/Movieworld after that could top this ride. It seems they replaced the cable cars with glass-like bottoms. While that’s all nice and dandy, I’m glad I was lucky enough to travel above the spikey tree-littered valley, it the rustic-little-bouncy-shakey-ride-of-a-lifetime.

Australia also reminds me of the washboards @ Surfers Paradise I never appreciated enough. Perhaps it’s time to visit an old house again.

Updated: I suppose I still do travel often. Was just crippled over 2008 and 2009 with the pregnancies. We did manage to squeeze in short vacations for both years though. So I shall not complain. 😡

Here comes the Cow, again.

Twelve Malaysians were charged with sedition and illegal assembly Wednesday over an explosive protest against the relocation of a Hindu temple which saw a severed cow’s head paraded and abused.

Wassup with these people and their vengeance against cows?

(Yes, I’m well aware of the Hindu’s love for cows)

Paper-and-string: I’m September’s lucky winner!

Little Red Bus hosts its 3rd giveaway (yes, we’re such babies in the blogging world) this September, so it’s pretty evident that this whole ‘giveaway’ idea is new on me. In fact, truth be told, I’m one of those (as we Singaporeans would say) who’s too “paiseh” to partake in such activities (despite the fact that I’ve hosted THREE).

I’m not sure what got into me late last week, but I submitted my entry on an impulse for September’s giveaway on one of my favourite blogs: paper-and-string. I was the first of the 99 (probably cos’ I subscribe to her RSS and my trusty Thunderbird *PINGS* everytime there’s a new read, and call it first timer’s charm, I won.

Weeeee… now I’ve gotta wait for it to travel around the globe before reaching me!

Home Improvement

There’s a huge difference in spacial comfort, or lack of rather in this situation; when you make the huge leap.

That leap from a single bedder to a queen. Whilst one might feel quite like the regal one on bed, it’s not that fanciful when you’re faced with limited bedspreads.

I’m a huge bedspread addict. I love them. Thread-counts, Comforters, Quilts, Duvet Covers, and while I dig my Laura Ashley sheets to death, this is just oh-so-quirky.

Sure, they don’t actually fit into our bedroom decor, but they’re oh-too-cool to give a miss. Too bad, the man doesn’t agree.
